Working Principle Description:

The oxygen production process of a VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) oxygen generator involves the following steps:

Compressed Air Inlet: First, ambient air is collected from the surroundings and compressed to a certain pressure using a compressor. This step is performed to increase the concentration and pressure of oxygen for the subsequent separation process.

Adsorption Tower Cycle: The compressed air enters the adsorption tower system, typically consisting of two or more adsorption towers. Each tower is filled with a specific adsorbent, commonly molecular sieves or activated carbon. The role of the adsorbent is to selectively adsorb the nitrogen component at a specific pressure, leaving behind a gas enriched in oxygen.

Adsorption Phase: During the adsorption phase, the nitrogen component in the compressed air is adsorbed by the adsorbent, while the oxygen-enriched gas flows out of the exit of the adsorption tower system.

Pressure Drop Desorption: When the adsorption tower reaches a certain saturation level (where the adsorbent can no longer effectively adsorb nitrogen), a pressure drop desorption is initiated. The pressure in the adsorption tower is reduced, causing the adsorbent to release the adsorbed nitrogen component and regain its adsorption capacity.

Oxygen Production: The released nitrogen is expelled through the exhaust system, while the oxygen-enriched gas is collected. Through multiple cycles, the purity and production of oxygen gradually increase until the desired specifications are achieved.

Tower Switching: When one adsorption tower becomes saturated, a tower switching operation is performed. During the switching process, the direction of the incoming compressed air is changed to ensure a continuous oxygen production.

Through the cyclic pressure variation and adsorption-desorption processes described above, a VPSA oxygen generator achieves efficient separation of nitrogen and other impurities from the air, providing a high-purity oxygen supply. This process offers flexibility, efficiency, and adjustability, making it suitable for various industrial and medical applications.
